E-Commerce Website Design Tips to Attract More Customer

Do you like the idea of attracting more customers and gaining more business? Yeah, I thought so. Read this article to learn simple e-commerce web design tips that will help you attract more customers!

A well-taken headshot can be the only tool a person needs to land a role as an actor. Conversely, a well designed website can be the only tool you need to attract more customers. In today's world, competition amongst businesses can be intense! Customers are bombarded with thousands of ads and quite frankly, your competition wants new business as much as you do.  So it comes to no surprise that if you want to be successful in today's market place, you need to step your game up.

When your customers are shopping, they are very likely to look you up your business on the internet. Over 87% of people do their initial search on a mobile device; if you aren't mobile optimized then you need to be optimized now. That being said, I want you to think about your website differently.

Your website is your reputation, your business and your business card. Thus you owe it to yourself to put your best foot forward and create a super sleek website that will help you stand out from the crowd. Read on to learn practical tips on how to improve your website design to attract more customers.

Have a Compelling Image on Your Homepage

Have you heard of the saying 'a picture is worth a thousand words'? Well, to a business owner, a picture can be worth thousands of dollars! My tip to you is to have a compelling image on your home page of your website. Your goal here is to make a fantastic first impression on your customer.

E-commerce customers have a notoriously small attention span. Online customers are able to decipher if the website is new and modern or old and archaic in mere seconds. What websites do you think customers like to shop from? Do you think they want to shop from the website that has a great first image and looks modern or a website where the images are old and outdated?

Of course customers prefer to shop on websites that have a compelling image and appear to be modern. That being said, obtaining high quality photos on your website naturally draws interest and makes sure they are the first thing that your customers see.

Create Amazing Links

Now unless you are an artist that creates a website only so you can show the world your work, you probably want your customers to buy something off of your website. Does that sound about right?  So our goal now is place links on every page of your website that lead to your online checkout (where the customers actually order the goods that you sell).

I recommend only creating relevant links. If you sell cars, write an article about cars and have links in the article that take you the online checkout and place them in the appropriate places throughout your website.  Every page of your website should be able to connect to checkout, to capture the moment when your customer is ready to buy.

Make Shopping Easier for the Customer

It's all about the customer, isn't it?! As a business owner, you want your website to be as easy as possible for customers to buy your product or sign up for the services you offer. Great websites that gain a lot of e-commerce business are great because the customer doesn't have to figure out how to buy a product. Instead, buying so easy that all the customer has to do is click on a button and boom; they ordered an item. So it's time for you to adopt these best practices.

By having an ‘add to cart’ button next to every item you sell, this will allow the customer to simply click on a button to place an order.  Also add call to action copy on every page; this is sales so you need to tell your customer to buy.  Your goal is to make buying your product extremely easy for your customer; remember, you only have so much of their time!

Be Organized

Have you even been on a really sloppy website where the navigation doesn't make any sense and something feels off?  Well, don't let that be your website! Make sure that your website is organized and it's easy for the customer to navigate. I recommend basing the design and organization of your website off of website that you admire and is successful.  Think about the qualities that you like in certain websites and add those same qualities to yours.

Your goal is to have an organized, sleek website where your customer can very easily find the information that you are looking for. When your website is organized, you never have to worry about your customer becoming confused and leaving your site without buying anything.
